78-year-old Trump — running for 4-year term — suggests 80-year-olds can’t sign documents

Donald Trump on Saturday suggested that people in their 80s are too old to be able to be held accountable for documents they have signed.

Trump, currently 78 years old and running for a four-year term in the nation’s highest office, is at this moment the oldest candidate ever to sustain a run for the presidency in the United States.

Speaking at a rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin, Saturday, the former president broached the subject of age and how its progression might impact one’s cognitive abilities.

Discussing his own indictment in the state of Georgia for allegedly interfering with the state’s 2020 election, Trump stated that “great innocent people, great patriots have been indicted by Fani and her boyfriend.” The case is being prosecuted by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who was forced to cut special prosecutor Nathan Wade from the team due to their personal relationship.

“It’s a disgrace,” Trump added. “You have people that are in their 80s, ‘Would you sign here?'” Trump said before veering off course to talk about Thomas Jefferson.

“You know Thomas Jefferson, did the same kind of things. Alexander Hamilton, lots of people all throughout the ages. Hillary Clinton wouldn’t acknowledge the election. All of these senators like Shifty Schiff, can you imagine?” Trump asked. “Shifty Adam Schiff, all of them, they disputed the 2016 election. It’s OK for them to do it, but if we do it, it’s a serious, serious crime.”

Trump then added, “These people are sick. We gotta get them the hell out of there. We have to win this election.”

Trump didn’t mention that Clinton did in fact concede the 2016 election to him, despite suggesting he might have won due to Russian election interference.

Conservative Army Iraq War Veteran Peter Henlein flagged Trump’s mention of age, saying, “Lol Trump suggests here that people in their 80s are too old to be held responsible for documents they sign. The guy is 78. And is running for President.”
