Already scheduled for an appearance with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki to talk about Tuesday’s election, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was immediately asked to address Donald Trump’s encouragement of shooters to aim at reporters during a Sunday morning speech.
At a rally in Pennsylvania, the former president pointed out the spots where he was protected by bulletproof glass before adding that reporters ––whom he referred to as the “fake news” –– were in the line of fire if an assassin took a shot at him.
He told his MAGA fans, “And to get me, somebody would have to shoot through the fake news, and I don’t mind that so much. I don’t mind, I don’t mind that.”
Moments after he made those comments, Pelosi made her MSNBC appearance and was asked by the host, “I just want to get your reaction to what he just said at the rally that we played for the audience.”
“I think what the ex-president just said with the further indication of his cognitive degeneration,” she began. “You saw recently how he was talking about whether he’d choose electrocution or being eaten by sharks.”
“Something is very wrong there and indicative also of diminishing the power of the press, which is the guardian of our freedom in our country,” she continued. “So I think people who might be thinking about voting for him have to know that he can’t last as president for four years with his brain deteriorating at the rate it is and it is clearly evident and they may be voting for J.D. Vance which would be a horrible thing for our country.”
