Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley took to Fox News on Tuesday to sound off on how she thinks Donald Trump’s campaign should see itself through the final days of the 2024 campaign — a message that started with an endorsement but which Kamala Harris fans said ended critically of the former president.
Haley began with a criticism of the Joe Biden administration and a commendation of Trump.
“We’ve had four years of record inflation,” said Haley, who has publicly endorsed Trump for president. “We’ve had unconscionable amounts of illegal immigrants.”
She added, “You don’t have to agree with Trump 100 percent of the time to vote for him.”
But she then veered into a diatribe many saw as being critical of the former president’s recent actions.
“It has got to be a story of addition,” Haley told Fox News host Bret Baier. “This is not a time to have anyone criticize Puerto Rico or Latinos, this is not a time for them to get overly masculine with this bromance thing that they’ve got going.”
The former South Carolina governor and 2024 presidential contender continued her criticism of Trump’s campaign by saying that his messaging is “not the way to win women,” who she added “care about the issues” — and vote.
“This is a time of discipline, and this is a time of addition,” she said.
Haley’s comments drew swift reaction on social media, with Kamala Harris supporters celebrating that she blasted Trump.
“Nikki Haley is absolutely TRASHING the Trump campaign right now on Fox right now,” Ammar Moussa, director of rapid response for the Harris-Walz campaign, posted on X.
“Once again Nikki Haley uses her appearance on Fox to criticize the Trump campaign strategy,” CNN’s Abby Phillip wrote to her followers on X.
Aaron Parnas, a Washington attorney and strategist said, “Nikki Haley trashing the Trump campaign is my favorite pastime.”
“Nikki Haley keeps seeing the exit ramps and then just blows right by them,” added USA Today columnist Rex Huppke in his own social media post.
James Singer, a rapid response adviser for the Harris-Walz campaign used the moment to tell his X followers: “Donald Trump did more outreach to the Proud Boys in 2020 than he has to @NikkiHaley voters in 2024.”
Some, including disgraced former Rep. George Santos (R-NY), appreciated Haley’s appearance.
“Ambassador @NikkiHaley just hit EVERY nail on the head during her Bret Baier on Fox News!” Santos wrote on X.
