After Biden Holds Hour-Long Unscripted Presser With No Teleprompter, Critics Are Asking Why Trump Can’t Do the Same?
In yet another case of “Biden stuttered, so he must be sundowning,” the media has once again given Trump the “that’s just the way he is” pass.
That is to say, no matter what Joe does right, they always find the tiniest thing he did wrong and hyper focus on it. And they do it while Trump flubs left and right, with the media focusing only on how “strong” he seemed while delivering one more indecipherable speech at a rally full of cultists who wouldn’t care if he said every American has to marry a crocodile and eat only canned beans from now on.
What’s with the different standards?
Honestly, it’s simple. Those who report on these things know how bad Trump would be for the country, but headlines are headlines, and America has been numbed to how stupid Trump is.
It’s not a story anymore.
Pundits are another story. “So now the media will demand that Trump hold an hour-long press conference on complex foreign policy issues — right?” asked Tristan Snell in a tweet. Snell was the successful prosecutor in the Trump University case in New York.
On CNN on Friday, Karen Finney stated “Trump is getting a free pass just like he did in 2016. No way he could do a press conference for 40 minutes after 3 long days with world leaders. He is incoherent most of time when he’s not spewing bile.”
Dean Obeidallah, a lawyer with his own show on Sirius XM and a frequent contributor to CNN, MSNBC, and The Daily Beast, swung even harder at those not holding Trump’s feet to the fire:
“It’s now time for the corporate media to dissect every word Trump says for the next two weeks, have debates on his mental state, amplify the small number of Republicans who want Trump to drop out and demand he hold a press conference where we can dissect him even more.”
It’s been nearly 4 years since Trump did at least an hour-long presser where he took questions from reporters, according to Rep. Don Beyer’s deputy chief of staff Aaron Fritschner.
So when WILL the press start to hold Trump to the same standard as they hold Biden?
Heck, the fact that they’re still treating a convicted felon — remember, we’re just waiting on sentencing now; the conviction already happened — as a serious candidate for president should tell you everything you need to know.
They’re never going to.
