‘Did you fall on your head?’ Megyn Kelly blasted for ‘racist’ response to DNC speech

Political experts and journalists slammed former Fox News host Megyn Kelly for a ‘racist’ comment she posted to X Monday night during coverage of the first night of the Democratic National Convention.

The right-wing commentator wrote: “Laphonza Butler spkg – (she filled Feinstein’s seat) – celebrating that she and Harris both graduated from historically black colleges. Imagine the white person up there: I’m proud to tell you I went to a mostly white university!”

Longtime journalist Joan Walsh replied: “Did you fall on your head?”

Norman Orstein, contributing editor at the Atlantic, wrote: “Megyn Kelly. Racist embarrassment.”

The Bulwark’s Tim Miller commented: “Was there a period of time where white people were denied college access so they needed to create alternative institutions to combat systematic oppression? No? Maybe that explains the difference?”

The Nation columnist Kali Holloway added: “Why, historically, did black people have to create their own institutions, Megyn? Just proudly Dunning-Krueger’ing history and all forms of knowledge for decades now my god”

The Cut election columnist Laura Bassett wrote: “I beg you to read a history book, any normal American history book, to understand the difference”

The National Museum of African American History and Culture notes on its website that “HBCUs opened the door of educational opportunity for many African Americans who were once legally denied an education.”

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund says on its website that “Black students were unwelcome at existing public and private institutions of higher education (IHEs), even after the passing of specific legislation, resulting in a lack of higher education opportunities.”

Senator Laphonza Butler (D-CA) attended Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi, and Vice President Kamala Harris attended Howard University in Washington, DC.
