Donald Trump has fanned the flames of a conspiracy theory that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is the love child of Fidel Castro.
The former president has doubled down on the rumour in his new book, having already floated it on a podcast by saying, “They say he’s the son of Fidel Castro and could be.” The outrageous claim was fully debunked by the Canadian government in 2018.
Trump also stirs up his previous claim that Trudeau’s mother, Margaret, slept with all of the Rolling Stones, which she denied.
According to an excerpt from the book Save Ameria, the businessman writes, “Justin Trudeau and I got along very well, but there were natural differences in that he is very Liberal, and I, to put it mildly, am not.”
He adds, “It will be very interesting to see how we do in the future, but first, I have to get there (back to the White House).”
Trump then veers off, writing about Margaret Trudeau’s “wild” days in the 1970s, when she allegedly went “clubbing” with the Rolling Stones and had some “association” with Fidel Castro, whom she reportedly called “the sexiest man I’ve ever met.”
He then stokes the speculation further, writing: “A lot of people say that Justin is his son.
“He swears that he isn’t, but how the hell would he know?
“Castro had good hair, the ‘father’ didn’t; Justin has good hair and has become a Communist just like Castro.”
The claim was widely debunked back in 2018, with the Canadian government clarifying that Margaret was married to Pierre Trudeau and gave birth to Justin nine months later, in 1971 – four years before Margaret ever visited Cuba.
Regarding her connection to the Stones, Margaret, 75, talked about hanging with the famous band in a 2016 interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
“We played dice until about five in the morning, in my hotel suite,” she recalled.
“Smoked some dope, talked. It was a good night, and it was my new world. But no one knew I was separated from my husband yet, and it brought a huge scandal.”
The Canadian activist denied she slept with Jagger at the time.
“I spent the night with the Rolling Stones, no question, but it was certainly not Mick Jagger. And that’s all we’ll say about that,” she told the magazine.
