Donald Trump has thrown the MAGA world into turmoil with supporters incensed by his decision to appoint J.D. Vance as his running mate on the Republican ticket.

Vance has been openly critical of Trump in the past, declaring firmly in a 2016 interview with Charlie Rose, “I’m a Never Trump guy. I never liked him.”

He also likened Trump to “America’s Hitler” and derided him as a “cynical asshole,” asserting that only an “idiot” would vote for him. And a tweet from Vance in October 2016 bluntly stated, “My god what an idiot,” in reference to Trump.

In other interviews and now-deleted tweets from that time, Vance echoed similar sentiments, openly supporting Hillary Clinton and labeling Trump as “noxious” and “reprehensible.”

The reaction from MAGA supporters has been swift and intense.

“I don’t trust JD Vance at all, I think he’s a snake, and if he is reformed, why are we testing that by making him VP?” questioned one Trump supporter on X. “My hope now is that Trump doesn’t put more snakes in his cabinet like he did in his first term. Personnel is policy. If you pick wrong, it will backfire.”

Conservative commentator Keith Boykin added, “JD Vance, who called Trump “America’s Hitler” and a “cynical asshole,” and said that any American would have to be an “idiot” to vote for him, has been selected as Trump’s running mate.”
