‘I’m The Ratings Machine’: Trump Erupts in Raging Tirade Over Fox News Cutting Him Off Mid-Rant About Harris Speech

In a glaring display of indignation, the former president Donald Trump took to Truth Social to unleash a volcanic eruption of rage after Fox News hosts Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum abruptly severed his live call-in during an explosive critique of Vice President Kamala Harris’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention.

Trump was incensed after the interview was cut short following a mere 10 minutes of air time. The broadcast ended in a chaotic flurry of beeps, with Trump seemingly bewildered and inadvertently mashing buttons on his phone while delivering his fiery commentary.

During the Fox News call-in, Trump lambasted Harris’s speech as an unmitigated disaster, branding her as a “radical” and derisively dubbing her “Comrade Kamala.” He criticized her address for its lack of substance, dismissing it as a “nonspecific and weak” performance devoid of critical issues like fracking, crime, and inflation.

Hosts Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum made multiple attempts to interject and pose questions, but the former president bulldozed through, clearly flabbergasted by the emergence of his new adversary following President Joe Biden’s campaign and his recent endorsement of Kamala Harris.

“Bret Baier of FoxNews called me, I didn’t call him, just prior to the Kamala Convention speech, and asked me if I would like to critique her after she is finished. I agreed to do so!” Trump raged on Truth Social early Sunday. “I thought it was nonspecific and weak, with no fracking, crime, inflation or anything else of interest even mentioned.”

“Delivery was a C+, with far too many and speedy ‘thank you’s’ at the beginning,” he continued. “It was ‘WEIRD! Likewise, I didn’t call other media outlets that asked me to go on, they called me.”

He added: “The Fake News, like often ‘gilted’ Maureen Dowd of the failing New York Times, wrote incorrectly that I was making the calls. WRONG!!! I don’t have to make calls to go on TV, or anything else — They call me! It’s called Ratings, I guess, and I’m the ‘Ratings Machine!’”

The former president’s self-asserted triumphs were not limited to just the ratings game. When MacCallum highlighted Harris’s success with various voter demographics, Trump’s response was as bold as ever.

“She’s not having success – I’m having success,” he blurted out. “I’m doing great with the Hispanic voters, doing great with Black men, I’m doing great with women.”

Amidst the chaos, longtime Trump observer Maggie Haberman from The New York Times noted that the former president didn’t appear to be “in command” of himself during the post-Harris speech interviews he did with Fox News and its smaller rightwing challenger Newsmax.

“He is clearly jarred by her,” she said on CNN on Friday.
