James Comer Admits Biden Probe Was a Charade: ‘It Didn’t Have Anything to do With Impeachment’
Representative James Comer (R-KY) acknowledged that the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden was more about political maneuvering than genuine grounds for impeachment, a move seemingly aimed at pleasing Donald Trump rather than upholding constitutional duty.
According to Politico’s Jordain Carney, Comer disclosed that he has completed his portion of the Biden impeachment inquiry report, but uncertainties loom over its release, complicated by the involvement of multiple committees.
When pressed by Carney on whether he planned to hold public hearings to discuss the report’s findings, Comer dismissed the idea outright.
“The reason that [former House Speaker Kevin] McCarthy (R-CA) went to the impeachment inquiry phase was to try to have better standing in court — it didn’t have anything to do with impeachment,” Comer admitted frankly.
The inquiry was launched amid Republican scrutiny of Hunter Biden’s international business dealings under pressure from former President Donald Trump, yet it ultimately failed to uncover any direct links between the president and his son’s activities, leaving Republicans at a dead end.
Despite this, Biden’s decision not to seek reelection means he will not be in office past next January.
