In a panel discussion on Fox News on Sunday, host Howard Kurtz revealed that Vice President Kamala Harris sought an interview with Joe Rogan, but the influential podcaster turned her down in favor of a three-hour conversation with former President Donald Trump.
Kurtz’s revelation came after right-wing commentator Caroline Downey claimed that Rogan’s extensive interview with Trump allowed the former president to appear “humanized,” which she argued could bolster his campaign.
“And that’s the net benefit to his campaign because with every TV hit that Kamala Harris does, she comes off more bitter, more angry, and more jaded, whereas Trump comes off as a normal guy,” Downey stated. “So, you know, Kamala Harris claims she’s trying to cater to the younger generation, but she’s sticking to legacy media interviews for the most part, and she refused to go on Rogan.”
Kurtz countered Downey’s assertion, emphasizing that Harris’s interest in joining Rogan’s podcast was genuine, but it was Rogan who ultimately refused her.
“Well, no, I don’t think that’s true,” Kurtz replied. “I think she wanted to go on Joe Rogan, and I don’t think Rogan wanted her.”
He noted that Rogan appeared “largely sympathetic” to Trump throughout their conversation and even “dismissed the media as biased.”
This development raises questions about Rogan’s motivations and the implications of his platform on political narratives, particularly as he chooses to highlight Trump while sidelining prominent Democratic figures like Harris.
