Leaked deposition shows Trump ally admitting major part of voter fraud theory is bunk

CNN has obtained a video deposition of Trump ally Mike Flynn acknowledging that he has no evidence to back up a key part of the conspiracy theories he’s floated for years about the 2020 election being rigged against the former president.

The deposition was taken as part of a defamation lawsuit filed by former Dominion Voting Systems executive Eric Coomer, who was falsely accused of stealing the election from Trump four years ago.

“Have you seen any evidence that you would consider credible, Mr. Flynn, that Eric Coomer played a role in rigging the 2020 presidential election?” Coomer’s attorneys asked Flynn

“I have not, no,” Flynn responded. “I don’t really know.”

The attorneys also asked Flynn about evidence he’d seen about Dominion machines being rigged to steal votes from Trump, and he said that he had “seen a lot of evidence” and “read a lot of reports,” but then hedged on whether he’d consider them credible.

“Credibility is in the eye of the legal system to determine,” he said.

Nonetheless, Flynn would continue to spout conspiracy theories about the 2020 election during appearances on right-wing media programs, claiming the election was “filled with fraud” and insisting he had “clear evidence” to prove it.
