Philadelphia DA Files Lawsuit Against Elon Musk Over $1 Million Voter Payments

The Philadelphia District Attorney has filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk and his super PAC, America PAC, over a controversial $1 million giveaway aimed at registered voters. District Attorney Larry Krasner argues that the initiative constitutes “an illegal lottery” operating in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania.

Musk recently announced the eighth winner of the giveaway in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, reiterating his commitment to provide financial incentives to voters who sign his petition. While participants are not required to vote, the petition stipulates that they must be registered voters to qualify.

“We’re trying to get attention for this very important petition to support the Constitution,” Musk stated at a rally. He said that participants need only sign the petition, which supports First and Second Amendment rights, to enter the daily drawing for the cash prize, which is only for battleground states.

Musk confirmed that the giveaway will continue through November 5, saying, “It’d be nice if you voted, but you don’t have to.”

The move has garnered attention as it raises questions about the influence of wealthy individuals in politics and the legality of such voter incentives and their potential impact on the electoral process.
