Donald Trump-loving wrestling icon Hulk Hogan on Tuesday night was filmed going off on a rant against Vice President Kamala Harris in which he talked about body slamming her and questioned whether she was an “Indian.”
In the video, which was originally published by TMZ, Hogan asked a cheering crowd of supporters, “You want me to body slam Kamala Harris? Do you want me to drop the leg on Kamala?”
He then went on to question Harris’s ethnicity.
“Is Kamala a chameleon?” he asked. “Is she Indian?”
Hogan then raised his hand and mockingly said, “How,” apparently mistaking Harris’s Indian ancestry for being Native American ancestry
Critics were quick to rip Hogan for his remarks.
“It is consistently so embarrassing as a black man and a wrestler when people ask me who my favorite wrestler was when I started watching wrestling as a kid and I have to admit it was Hulk Hogan…” wrote wrestler and former NFL player AJ Francis on Twitter.
Atlantic writer Jemele Hill also expressed disappointment.
“As a kid, I used to love Hulk Hogan,” she confessed. “But he continued to expose himself as a racist, sad, pathetic, terrible human being.”
“A racist and drunk Hulk Hogan threatens Kamala Harris and says a bunch of racist stuff,” commented journalist Dana Abercrombie.
“Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan,” wrote actor O’Shea Jackson Jr. “MOTHAF— HULK HOGAN!!! I might have to make a segment on my wrestling podcast just to make sure I hate on this mf every episode.”
Journalist Mehdi Hasan marveled that the conservatives have adopted someone like Hogan as an icon.
“This is the guy the GOP cheered on at their convention and who CNN conservative commentator Scott Jennings was praising on air just tonight,” he wrote.
Former federal prosecutor Ron Filipkowski had a similar reaction.
“The Keynote Speaker at the Republican National Convention,” he wrote of Hogan. “This is Trump, this is MAGA.”
