Critics argue that the Court’s ruling has emboldened Trump, allowing him to believe that he can commit crimes without facing consequences. This sentiment has fueled accusations that the Supreme Court’s decisions are undermining the rule of law.

During the interview, Trump also launched a scathing attack on Vice President Kamala Harris, labeling her “nasty” and “vicious.” He criticized Harris for her treatment of former Vice President Mike Pence during the January 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection, where Pence was targeted by a mob of pro-Trump supporters. Trump continues to falsely claim that Pence had the authority to halt the certification of the election results.

Trump, who is scheduled to debate Harris next week, referenced their 2020 vice presidential debate, particularly her viral response to him saying, “I’m speaking,” when he interrupted her. He also revisited Harris’s role in the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, describing her as “vicious.”

“She was vicious, oh she was the most vicious. She was going after them. Just like with Mike Pence, where she said, you’re interrupting me, I want to talk. And that’s why, look, ABC is probably the worst in terms of fairness,” Trump added.

As expected, people were quick to push back and refute Trump’s assertion that he had the right to interfere in the election. Critics on social media were particularly vocal, slamming the former president for what they deemed an absurd claim that undermines democratic norms and legal standards. Many pointed out that no individual, including a former president, is above the law when it comes to election integrity.

One user expressed frustration with the Supreme Court, writing, “Hey Supreme Court… you see this shit?!? Goodness I hate what you’ve done.”

Another user highlighted the seriousness of Trump’s comments: “I truly hope Jack Smith is our next AG. Trump finally confessed on tape! No, you have no right to interfere with a presidential election, that’s a FEDERAL CRIME, and you just confessed! DOJ, under U.S. Code Title 18, sections 245 and 242, criminalizes any interference with voting rights or the election process through force, fraud, or other unlawful means. What more do you need than a confession?”

A third user simply declared, “You don’t have the right to do it,” while another pointed out, “Elections are not part of a President’s official duties.”
