Taylor Swift sparks war with Elon Musk as he snaps at her Donald Trump post

Taylor Swift has sparked a war with Elon Musk after she made her feelings about Donald Trump crystal clear.

The Bad Blood billionaire, 34, took to Instagram to endorse US Vice President, Kamala Harris, following her debate with Trump on Tuesday. In an impassioned post, the singer told her 283 million followers that she was going to vote for Harris and her running mate Tim Walz in November’s election.

She said Harris “fights for the rights and causes. I believe (we) need a warrior to champion them”, adding: “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos”. The pop icon also posted a picture of herself carrying a cat and signed off the post with “ Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady”.

In response, Musk took to his platform X, formerly Twitter, quipping: “Fine Taylor… you win… I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.” Following his post, the Tesla CEO was accused of being a “misogynist”, “deluded” and “out of touch” by a flurry of fuming Swifties.

Taylor’s comment comes after Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, said in a 2021 clip, which has since gone viral, that America is being run by a bunch of “childless cat ladies”. He also called them “miserable” with their lives and having “no direct stake in America”.

Americana star, Taylor, is not the only celebrity to slam Vance’s baseless comments. Jennifer Anniston lashed out at the politician earlier this year, saying she ‘hopes his daughters are lucky enough to bear their own children’ after bravely admitting her own struggles with fertility.

Taylor’s endorsement of Trump isn’t the first time she’s dipped her toes into politics. In 2018, the star, who is dating Travis Kelcee, used Instagram to endorse Tennessee’s Democrats in a senate race against the Republican candidate Marsha Blackburn, whose voting record on women’s and LBGTQ issues the singer disagreed with.

Claiming it wasn’t easy for her to speak out, Taylor told her Netflix documentary ,Miss Americana, that she agonised over possibly alienating a big chunk of her fans in Tennessee, her home state, who had stuck with her since she was a tween singing country music. “These aren’t your dad’s Republicans,” she told the cameras. “I need to be on the right side of history. In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now.”
