Supporters who attended a rally for former President Donald Trump in Charlotte, North Carolina Wednesday who parked their cars in a Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot weren’t exactly treated to doughnuts. Nope. Instead, they were treated to a rude surprise.
In the form of their cars being towed, leaving them without transportation, Mediaite reports.
A local TV station reported that dozens of attendees left the rally only to find out their cars had been towed, even though there were claims that the manager of the Dunkin’ Donuts eatery had given them permission to park there.
“I talked to dozens of people who were stranded here. They told me basically the same thing,” reported WBTV’s Ron Lee. “They parked here in this parking lot, went to the rally, enjoyed themselves, came back, and the cars were simply gone. A lot of these people came from hours away and now they’ve got no way to get home.”
In footage provided by WBTV News showed attendees looking quite confused and not particularly happy as they stood in the Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot.
Apparently, the manager of the store didn’t exactly have warm feelings towards the attendees, and according to Gotcha Towing told WBTV, had actually contacted the company to tow the cars. The manager also said there were signs in the parking lot that expressly warned that “illegally parked cars would be removed.” The towing company also told WBTV that those attending the Trump rally would have to pay a $380 fee to release their vehicles.
Ooh, that’s got to hurt.
This isn’t the first time the Trump campaign has left audiences out in the cold. Thousands of Trump supporters in Omaha waited in freezing temperatures for buses that never came. This was in October 2020. I wonder if the Biden campaign had any similar mishaps. My guess is no.
And the employees at the eatery, perhaps understanding that Trump supporters can be violent, locked the doors to keep the unhappy rallygoers out. This resulted in police being called to the scene by attendees, but all the cops were able to do was to drive people to the towing yard to pay for the release of their vehicles
I’m loving this. Any time Trump supporters are forced to deal with something like this, I always hope they’ll figure out that the Trump campaign is mostly inept buffoons who, like their oafish candidate, couldn’t possibly care about their audience.
Thank you, Dunkin’ Donuts in Charlotte. I hope more mass strandings occur so that they begin to figure this out.
