About Trumpwatcher

Independent reviews of the films worth your time.

Trumpwatcher is an independent film-review publication for readers who want to know whether a film is worth their evening before they commit to it. We are not a news site, an aggregator, a streaming guide, or a marketing channel. We do not run paid placements, sponsored reviews, or affiliate-driven recommendations.

Why "Trumpwatcher"?

The name comes from the card-playing sense of the word — a film that trumps the rest of the week's releases, the one worth reaching for when your time is limited. Trumpwatcher has no connection to any political figure, party, or campaign, and we do not cover political content of any kind. We say this in plain English on every page because we know readers reasonably wonder.

What we cover

What we do not cover

How we review

Every review is written by a named human reviewer with film background — not generated, not spun, not translated from another publication. Our reviewers watch the film start to finish before writing, ground their argument in observable craft elements (script, direction, editing, performance, score, sound, cinematography), and explain a clear final recommendation: watch in theaters, wait for streaming, or skip. Every review carries a Trumpwatcher Score broken down across five axes, which we explain in detail on our scoring methodology page.

What you can expect from us

The team

Trumpwatcher currently publishes work by three named reviewers — a lead critic, a craft and genre editor, and a festival and catalog reviewer. Their full bios and credentials are linked from every review they write. We expand the bylines as the publication grows, never by lowering the bar on background or accountability.
